|A 12 acre park in downtown Nakusp features a senior citizens drop-in and recreation centre, a modern arena, four-sheet curling rink, squash court, tennis courts, children’s playground, soccer field, three baseball fields, skateboard park, gazebo where Music in the Park runs every Wed. evening during July and August and a municipal campground, all only minutes from the public beach. |
These recreation facilities draw crowds annually to hockey, curling and slo-pitch tournaments. Nakusp facilities are up-to-date.
The Bonnington Arts Centre is operated by an active arts council responsible for bringing numerous cultural activities to Nakusp. The Village of Nakusp Centennial Building houses an excellent public library and museum. Next door is the tourist/business information centre built to resemble a paddlewheeler using authentic sternwheel artifacts.
The scenery in and around Nakusp is unbelievable. One site right in the Village that should definitely not be missed is the waterfront walkway and Japanese gardens. Hiking trails near the Hot Springs range from easy to difficult.
