Freedom of Information

Most of the Village's information is available to you upon verbal request. Please ask the Village staff; they will be happy to assist you wherever possible.

Formal Freedom of Information (FOI) Requests

The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act applies to all records in the custody or control of a public body. If the information you seek is unavailable through routine channels, you may request a Freedom of Information to access the records.

Unlike routine requests, the Act requires that requests for access to records not regularly available be made in writing. Your written request must provide sufficient detail to enable staff to locate and retrieve the records you are seeking.

A $10.00 application fee is required. Once payment is received, we will process your request quickly and within the 30 business days specified in the Act. If your request is broad in scope or requires a large volume of records to be reviewed and prepared, we may extend the time limit for responding under the Act by an additional 30 business days.

Making a Request for Access to Records

You may request access to records using a Request for Access to Records form, available below, to the Village of Nakusp. All requests must be made in writing, signed by the applicant, and accompanied by a ten-dollar ($ 10) application fee. The fee covers the first three (3) hours of work. If you request access to another person's personal information, please attach a signed consent form for disclosure of the person(s) involved or proof of authority to act on their behalf.
