Draft Zoning Bylaw No. 729, 2023 Now Available
The Village began the process of the Zoning Bylaw rewrite in 2021 to help create a bylaw that is easier to read, consistent, and addresses the issues that have resulted in a significant number of zoning amendment applications. Further, the bylaw was designed to help increase housing stock by allowing infill and promoting greater density. Lastly, the bylaw has addressed the issue of Short-Term Rentals and has established regulations that strike a balance between housing affordability and ensuring existing housing stock is available for residents of the community.
Throughout this process, the Village has engaged with the public and responded to their questions and concerns. The public’s comments and concerns were worked into the bylaw to ensure this bylaw works for the majority of residents in our community. Public engagement/feedback opportunities included:

Significant revisions were made based on the feedback received from the public from mid-March to early April and the direction provided by Council at the April 24, Regular Meeting of Council (See Section J.4 of the meeting minutes) was worked into the bylaw.
The Village of Nakusp is pleased to make public the Draft Village of Nakusp Zoning Bylaw, No. 729, 2023. This bylaw will be presented to Council for consideration of first and second readings at the June 12, 2023, regular council meeting. A public hearing will be held during the June 26th, 2023 regular council meeting.
