With General Voting Day for the 2026 Local General Election coming up, we want to remind candidates and their representatives about the rules for advertising on voting day.
Election advertising cannot be shared with the public on General Voting Day. This includes sharing or posting advertising online, including on Facebook and other social media.
Candidates and their representatives must also not edit campaign posts on General Voting Day before voting ends. Campaign posts can be edited starting at 8:01 PM on October 17, after voting has ended.
Thank you to all candidates and their representatives for helping make sure the election runs smoothly and follows the rules.
For more information on the rules for elections and campaign advertising, please visit section 45 of the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act and pages 14 & 15 of the Elections BC Handbook for Local Candidates.
