What is an election campaign?

Once a candidate has been declared, they can begin sharing their message with voters through an election campaign.

An election campaign is a coordinated effort to connect with the community and encourage voters to support a candidate. Campaign activities can include:

  • Public appearances and speeches;
  • Social media posts and online communications;
  • Advertisements;
  • Campaign signs;
  • Mail inserts and newsletters; and
  • Stickers and buttons.
Election campaigns play an important role in helping voters learn about the people running for office and the ideas they bring to the community.
