PRESS RELEASE – VILLAGE OF NAKUSP TO TEST EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION SYSTEM ON MAY 21 AT 1:30 PM PDT

In It Together was the theme for this year’s Emergency Preparedness Week, a national campaign that highlights how social connection can strengthen readiness. Whether it’s a wildfire, flood, or power outage, our ability to respond and recover is stronger when we work together as neighbours, families, and communities.

At the Village of Nakusp, we’re encouraging residents to continue to build your own Emergency Preparedness awareness, talk to your family about your emergency plan, build or update your Grab and Go kit, and check in with neighbours, because we’re all in it together.

As part of our emergency preparedness process, the Village of Nakusp will conduct its annual TEST of the Emergency Notification System on THURSDAY, MAY 21, 2026 at approximately 1:30 PM PDT. Anyone registered with the Village’s Emergency Notification System will receive a TEST NOTIFICATION by text, email, landline, or through the Voyent Alert! app, depending on their chosen setting.

If you are new to the area or have not yet signed up for emergency notifications, please go to www.nakusp.com/voyentalert. To ensure you receive important information relevant to your location, it is imperative that residents update their account with accurate location information. Please take this opportunity to log in to the system and double-check your details: www.nakusp.com/voyentalert.

If you require any assistance with signing up for Voyent Alert!, please call us at 250.265.3689 or stop by the Village Office in person. We’re more than happy to sign you up for this important notification system.

This is also a great time to take a few simple steps to improve your readiness:

For more information, please contact the Village Office at 250.265.3689, info@nakusp.com, or stop by in person. We’re located at 91 1st St NW, and are open Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM-4:00 PM.
