WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!

The Village of Nakusp is looking to understand if citizens are interested in having a Neighbourhood Zero Emission or Golf Cart program available. The Motor Vehicle Act of BC allows for the use of Neighbourhood Zero Emission and Golf Carts on municipal roads. The program the Village chooses to participate in will depend on the feedback we receive from the survey (link below) and Council's will. Moving forward with either program will require a municipal bylaw and the designation of routes for neighbourhood vehicles to operate on.
The survey will close on August 1, 2025.

Each program operates slightly differently from the other. Please take a moment to understand the differences between a Neighbourhood Zero Emission Vehicle and a Neighbourhood Golf Cart. It is also essential to know that the rules of the road, as set forth by the Motor Vehicle Act and Motor Vehicle Regulations, are required to be met. Operators of either Neighbourhood vehicle must have a valid driver's licence and carry an active insurance policy. Through either program, ATV's or side-by-sides are not eligible for participation.

Neighbourhood Zero Emission Vehicle:

Four-wheeled vehicle powered by an electric motor that does not emit tailpipe pollutants and is designed to achieve a speed of 32 km/h, but not exceeding 40 km/h on a paved level surface. Has to be purchased with all required equipment installed by the manufacturer. Please take a moment to research if this is something you would invest in.

Neighbourhood Golf Carts:

A motor that is not capable of propelling the golf cart faster than 32 km/h on a paved level surface, with a capacity for two persons, no more than four. All required equipment can be installed after manufacturing, and the golf cart must be equipped with the necessary components and in good working order.
