The Village of Nakusp is developing an Accessibility Plan. We will use this page to gather feedback on accessibility in Nakusp and provide input on the draft plan.
The Village of Nakusp is committed to continuously working to provide a safe community based on mutual respect and the acceptance of every person. Our vision is to provide municipal programs, services, and environments that are accessible and free of barriers so that everyone can participate. Accessible communities serve persons with disabilities, persons with injuries, persons burdened with hardships, seniors, and families with young children.
The Nakusp Accessibility Advisory Committee is seeking a new Committee Member.
We are seeking an individual to participate in our Accessibility Advisory Committee. A fillable expression of interest is provided below and can be submitted to cjones@nakusp.com. The Council for the Village of Nakusp will make the Committee appointment during a regular Council meeting. The individual must meet the following criteria set through provincial legislation for the Committee seat:
- Individuals with disabilities or individuals who provide direct care for individuals with disabilities.
Advisory Committee Progress
The Nakusp Accessibility Advisory Committee has engaged a consultant to lead the development of the Nakusp Accessibility Plan, following its direction. A public survey was conducted and is now complete, which can be found below.
The Draft Accessibility Plan is available for review and feedback. Please submit all feedback to the feedback form at the bottom of this page, or visit us in the office to provide your feedback in person.

Committee meetings are open to the public. A meeting schedule can be found below. Please note that the Committee meetings for June 18, July 16, and August 20th, 2025, have been cancelled. The next meeting will be held on September 17, 2025.

Legislative Requirements
The Accessibility British Columbia Act came into effect in June 2021. The Act requires municipalities and other organizations to identify how they will identify, remove, and prevent barriers to those working in the organization and those interacting with it. The Act requires municipalities to:
- Have an Accessibility Plan;
- Have an Accessibility Committee to advise on how to remove existing barriers and prevent future barriers; and,
- Have a feedback tool to receive feedback on their Accessibility Plan and how accessible the organization is generally.
