Preparing for Canada's Move to Next-Generation 911
Nakusp, like all other communities, are preparing for Canada’s move to Next-Generation 911. We need to confirm civic addresses and assign additional addresses where necessary. Updated civic addresses will help First Responders get to an address efficiently in the event of an emergency.
What is a Civic Address?
A Civic Address is a sequential number assigned to the closest known named road to navigate to that location.
What is Next-Generation 911?
NG911 is an enhanced 911 service that enables new methods of communication with 911, including text messaging, photos, and videos.
How do I know my Civic Address?
Check your address on the RDCK website using the Web Mapping button below. If your address isn't listed or if it differs from your own records, please get in touch with Colleen at: gis@nakusp.com

Does my property need a new civic address?
Your property may require an additional civic address if it contains more than one residence or business.
Structures & Suites
Each structure on a property that is a residence or commercial business must have a building number (e.g., 456, 460, 464).
Each business or residence within a structure requires a suite number (e.g., 123A, 123B). Properties that require suite numbers include office suites, multi-family homes, strata, residences with secondary suites, and businesses with residential apartments, among others. If your property already uses suite numbers that aren’t listed in the RDCK web map, please notify us as soon as possible so that we can incorporate your existing suite numbers into your civic address. If your property requires an additional civic address, please don't hesitate to contact Colleen at gis@nakusp.com.
